Qantas announced some changes yesterday regarding their domestic menu’s, and the changes are very positive. Breakfast, Lunch, Main Meal, Snacks/Refreshments, and Breakfast menus have all been updated, and they started on services yesterday, the 27th of October 2016.

Per Qantas:

Breakfast:

With breakfast being the most important meal, customers have the option of selecting hot or cold items. Customers can look forward to golden and delicious omelette bites by Sunny Queen Farms. Their eggs are laid fresh on the farm by healthy hens. For a light and refreshing breakfast, customers can enjoy new Ruby & Roy’s yoghurt flavours – mango, raspberry and pomegranate, passionfruit and pineapple and marmalade. Ruby & Roy’s is a local NSW supplier, all of their products are natural and hand-made.

Main meal:

Customers can enjoy a variety of gourmet hot main meals and cold salads. Dishes are influenced by Rockpool. With more substantial portions (up to 50% more) and a greater selection of menus, customers can expect a higher quality meal and service standard.

Customers can look forward to delicious and warming meals such as Korean BBQ chicken with rice and pickled vegetables or fragrant pumpkin, tomato and almonds with pearl couscous. For a lighter meal, customers can enjoy cold salads such as Tahitian quinoa and coconut salad or hot smoked salmon and mixed vegetable salad.

Snacks, Supper, Refreshments:

New products are available to customers during morning services such as a luscious apricot, almond and white chocolate finger slice by Springhill Farm or a delectable bush plum crumble slice by Dreamtime Tuka. Qantas are continuing to support our Indigenous supplier, Dreamtime Tuka, leading supplier of bush food products.

During our afternoon and evening services, new products offered to customers include, olives, feta and lavosh pack by Perfection Fresh or savoury boxes from Charlie’s Cookies. Charlie’s Cookies have created a savoury box that supports Ovarian Cancer Australia, donating 5 cents for every box Qantas serves.

Lunch is now being served:

To ensure we provide our customers with the most appropriate meal offering for the time of day they are travelling, lunch will now commence on our short and medium services in both Business and Economy from 1200.. Prior to 1200 our customers in Business will enjoy our brunch offering and customers in Economy our morning refreshment offering.

Key points:

  • Main meals will be 50% larger
  • From 1200 Business class will have brunch options and economy will have morning refreshments
  • Both hot and cold options will be available

Bottom Line

Qantas have excellent catering in economy and it’s always nice to see different menu’s so it’s a very positive change.
