I just posted about Qantas’s new Perth – London service which will start on the 24th of March next year. I briefly said that the flight would come on sale within the next hour and they’ve just become available.

First of all, here is the price for Business Class:

Here is the price for Premium Economy:

Those are the prices just for the Perth – London leg, Qantas will also introduce a leg from Melbourne to Perth which will then connect onto London with the same aircraft.

Here is the price of the domestic leg:

So the flight from MEL to PER then onto LHR will take the QF9 flight number which is currently being used by the A380 service.

The best part about the 787-9 being on the domestic leg is that it will depart Melbourne’s T2 which is the International terminal. This is amazing news for Qantas Platinum members and above as well as Oneworld Emerald members as they will be able to access the Qantas First Class lounge, even on an Economy ticket.

The prices have really surprised me, especially for Economy and Premium Economy. For both of those products, those prices are pretty great!

Business Class is obviously very highly priced and If you’re wanting to fly it, I’d wait till the price comes down and sale fares become available.

As a test, I booked a Flexible fare on the Domestic leg to see if Platinum’s and above could select Premium Economy for free and it doesn’t appear that you do. That’s quite a shame and it would be great to see Qantas doing that considering they aren’t selling Premium on the domestic leg.

Qantas Business is overpriced for what it is – it is not globally competitive.
We pay far too much for premium cabins originating in Australia.

I’d take Qatar J with a layover in Doha any day over QF SYD-PER-LHR.

Zac – any idea on what the stays credit earn is going to be and how many Qanta FF points will be required for redemptions?

@Perthflyer – I’ll be doing a post on the whole earning and redeeming for the 787 very soon, stay tuned.
