Qantas has today announced plans for services to Kangaroo Island from both Adelaide and Melbourne. Kangaroo Island is a new destination for the carrier which is quite exciting. For those not aware, the Island is just off South Australia and is Australia’s 3rd largest Island. The population of the Island is estimated to be around 4,500 people and to give you an idea of how big it is, it’s 4,405 squared kilometres.

There have been previous airlines that flew into the Island but Qantaslink will be the only carrier with scheduled services.

For both the Melbourne and Adelaide, Qantaslink will utilise their Dash-8 fleet of aircraft. Melbourne will use the larger -Q400 variant while Adelaide will use the -Q300 aircraft. The new services are set to start in December.
