The United States is an incredibly important destination for Qantas, so much so that it actually makes up for 34% of the carriers international travellers, that’s a pretty staggering amount and its a number that continues to grow. The airline has long been focused on routes to and from the US and next year they’ll even be introducing two brand new routes, Brisbane to San Francisco as well as Brisbane – Chicago.
Qantas has operated the A380 to Dallas since the 29th of September 2014 which sadly replaced the stop via Brisbane which was operated by their 747-400’s. Many will argue this was a fantastic move but I personally really do miss flying on a 747 between Brisbane and Sydney.
Qantas A380
Qantas will begin a 7th weekly service to Dallas Fort Worth starting on the 30th of June 2020.
Currently, the non-stop service from Sydney runs six times weekly but starting on the 30th of June, 2020 – the service will be operated seven times weekly. The service will operate on a Tuesday for those interested.
Qantas 7 departs Sydney at 12:35 pm and arrives into Dallas the same day at 1:00 pm
Qantas 8 departs Dallas Fort Worth at 10:15 pm and arrives into Sydney two days later at 6:15 am
Qantas actually have two variations of the A380 as they recently announced their new onboard offerings, the seat details below are for the newly fitted aircraft, the old dimensions can be found here.
The first class cabin consists of 14 suites which are laid out in a 1-1-1 configuration and feature a pitch of 79” and a seat width of 22”

The business class cabin consists of 70 seats in a 1-2-1 configuration and every seat has a pitch of 46-80” and an overall width of 23.”

The premium economy cabin on the A380 consists of 60 seats in a 2-3-2 layout with every seat featuring a pitch of 38-41” and a width of 19.5.”

And last but not least, the economy cabin features 341 seats in a 3-4-3 layout with every seat featuring a pitch of 31” and a width of 17.5.”

Overall this is positive news for both Dallas and Qantas as it proves the route is as profitable as ever, it’s great to see the route is still in high demand and think the added service will be very welcomed by travellers, especially ones flying for work.
