Ritz-Carlton Kuala Lumpur Deluxe Room Review

by Zac George March 17, 2020

A few weeks ago, I was travelling through Kuala Lumpur, and I decided it’d be an excellent chance to try a few different hotels. As I was staying for three nights, I split the stays up between three properties, the Intercontinental, the Ritz-Carlton & the Westin. I was very much looking forward to this stay as it would actually be my first ever stay at a Ritz property and I had heard some positive reviews about the hotel from friends.

The hotel is a category five property which means you’d need to use 30,000 points for an off-peak award, 35,000 points for a standard night and 40,000 for a peak night award. For this stay, I was able to get a rate at around $250, which is standard pricing for the property.

Next to the hotel, you’ll find the Ritz-Carlton Club. I’ve tried looking around online for more information but haven’t been able to find anything about it. The reason I mention this is because when I first arrived at the hotel, I was dropped off here by the Uber driver and a staff member was standing there with a list. As I got out, he asked if I was a hotel guest and was asked to go to the next entry. If anyone knows what this is, please feel free to comment below.

The hotel was fairly busy during my stay, and it appeared to really die down after 11 pm. These photos were all taken during the night as it’s a lot easier to get a better picture and not have to have the possibility of having someone yelling at you or being followed by security – yes, it’s happened.

When you first arrive at the hotel, you’ll notice this large and elegant chandelier.

The check-in desks are found when you first walk in and to get to your room, and you’ll take the elevator on the left.

You’ll then proceed through a dining area and past a smoking room before reaching the elevators.

Generally speaking, Marriott Bonvoy Platinum members don’t receive any upgrades as they’re reserved for the higher Titanium & Ambassador members. I booked a standard deluxe room, and this is precisely what I was provided with. The room itself is really nicely appointed, and I was delighted with the amount of space within the room.

The bed in the room was very comfortable, and the pillows were also quite plush.

The room features a comfortable lounging chair as well as a small desk.

To me, the room felt very modern with a slight touch of vintage with the wood panelling and TV cabinet area.

Directly across from the bathroom is where you’ll find the closet as well as the storage area, which also comes with bathrobes and slippers.

I’m a huge fan of marble bathrooms in hotels. This one was no exception; It was spacious, clean and well-stocked with amenities.

In the bathroom, you’ll find an assortment of regular amenities as well as some lotions by Asprey.

The room featured two bottles of water in the bathroom:

    Overall

While the hotel and room itself were lovely, there was one major drawback and that was the wifi. I understand technology doesn’t always work and can fail at the drop of a hat but the way the staff handled it was quite embarrassing. If it’s not working, just say it’s not – don’t make excuses and give conflicting stories.

The room was spacious, the food was lovely from the property, and it’s in a fantastic location, but the overall attitude from the staff was a definite letdown.

Have you stayed at the Ritz-Carlton Kuala Lumpur before?
