Last night I was flying out of Brisbane and was headed to Singapore on Singapore Airlines. As a Business Class guest and Velocity Platinum member, I could either visit the Krisflyer lounge or the Air New Zealand lounge, however, I chose to visit the Plaza Premium lounge which I hadn’t been into before.
The lounge is located on the upper level right next to the Air New Zealand lounge and the Krisflyer lounge. It’s also opposite gates 81 and 82.
The Air New Zealand lounge is on the left, Krisflyer straight ahead and the Plaza Premium on the right-hand side.
The lounge opened in 2016 and is the only Plaza Premium facility in Australia.
The lounge joined Priority Pass last year and there are a quite a few other ways to gain entry. American Express Personal & Business Platinum and Centurion cards have access, eligible Dinersclub members have access, Dragonpass members can access it and if you don’t hold an eligible card you can pay an entry fee of $56 but they’re currently selling passes for $45.
As you enter, on the right-hand side you’ll find a large selection of reading materials.
As you enter the lounge, you’ll first find the private seating pods, these are quite similar to the ones Cathay Pacific have in their lounges.
Each pod has 2 USB power outlets and 2 power-points.
Right past the pods are some computers.
The lounge has bathrooms and only 1 shower room which was being used while I was in the lounge. The bathrooms were spotless as there were cleaners cleaning it constantly.
At 10:00 pm, there were only 4 people in the lounge. It closes at 12:00 but the hot food wasn’t available after 10 from what I found.
The lounge has a bar with soft drinks, coffee and alcoholic beverages. If I remember correctly, it will cost you $19 for Alcoholic beverages if you’re accessing the lounge with Priority Pass.
At around 10:00 pm there were quite a few cold foods like salads and cheeses available.
There were also quite a few dessert options to choose from.
The seating area’s in the lounge are quite small but relativity spacious. The website says it can seat 100 people but I feel It couldn’t fit 70.
Each set of seating has a console with 2 USB ports and 2 power-points.
The space is comfortable but I imagine the lounge would be just too busy to be enjoyable in peak times.
I do really like the details in the lounge, the staff are very friendly and eager to help and I love the wood panelling for some reason.
Like with all of the Brisbane lounges, it has a view of the terminal so there’s not much natural light at all and no really interesting view.
These hanging pods have to be one of the best parts of the lounge.
Overall
The Plaza Premium lounge is a decent lounge to spend time waiting for a flight in but would I spend more time in there then needed? No. For what it is, it’s not bad but if you’re in a premium cabin or have elite status with a carrier you’re flying I’d use that lounge instead.
