Thai Schedule A350’s to Melbourne For March 2017

Thai Airways planned to launch A350 services to Melbourne from the 16th of September but they got delayed to October, then November and it goes on. Well, now there is some glimmer of hope as their A350 is showing up in bookings onwards from the 26th of March 2017.

Thai has been using a mixture of 747-400, 777-200, 777-300ER aircraft.

Why haven’t they been able to fly to Melbourne?

This is the really strange part. CASA (Civil Aviation Safety Authority) is now giving Thai the green light to commence flights due to ”unfamiliarity” with the A350. What’s weird about this is that Singapore Airlines and Qatar Airways have or do fly into Australia.

This is a very strange reasoning for the airline, and hopefully, they can commence the flights in March. They currently operate to Phuket, Rome, and Milan. If you haven’t seen what the Thai A350 looks like in inside here is the post.

Thanks for the update! I’ve been sorely disappointed with the delays for the A350 – even more so with the apparent reason for the delay, given other airlines already use this plane on routes to Australia. I flew with Thai BKK-MEL at the end of September and will again in mid March, so it sounds as though I’ll miss out on trying the new flatbed seats again 🙁

This whole situation is really poor from a pr and gov point of view
Have booked May and July Buisness class and will be fuming if NOT flying the Melbourne route by then

Mike – At this time, Thai have the A350 listed on the MEL service from March 26th.

Thai has done it again with Melbourne. I booked my tickets with Thai hoping to fly A350 in April, but notoriously as usual, schedule is back to B777. Very disappointing Thai.

Could not agree more !! Thai is playing games with Australian consumers
Have two booking May and July chose Thai to fly new aircraft instead of Singapore or Emirates to Singapore
      This is becoming a farce
