Sydney No Longer Getting JAL First From March 26th

Something I didn’t think would happen anytime soon but Japan Airlines will not be selling first class seats on JL771/2 Tokyo – Sydney – Tokyo from the 26th of March 2017. The airline will continue to use the 77W but first, will not bookable and will show was F0 if you look at Expertflyer or a GDS.

As of 13JAN17, JAL reservation for First Class Sydney service remains closed for travel on/after 26MAR17

For those who don’t know Japan Airlines has eight open suites in a 1-2-1 configuration. I had planned to try the product this year, but sadly I won’t be able to. At 60,000 AAdvanatge miles, it’s not bad value as paid fares can get up to 7k or more!

Interestingly the airline has also pulled it’s first class flights on the Tokyo – Jakarta route which now means the airline will only operate first class on long-haul flights.
