If there’s one airline that’s almost too excited for an aircraft, It would probably have to be Qantas. The carrier is expecting to take delivery of their first 787 this October which is fast approaching. The airline will be taking delivery of 8 aircraft in total.
Qantas have a long time tradition of naming their aircraft. They’ve named them after famous aviators, towns, birds and even aboriginal artworks and trust me, they looked amazing!
The airline hasn’t yet named their 787’s and they have are now asking the public to help give some ideas. If you’d like to suggest a name, click here.
As an example, all of the carriers’ A380’s are named after famous Australian aviators or high profile people in the industry. Below is Bert Hinkler. The other names include Nancy Bird Walton, Hudson Fysh, Paul McGinness, Lawrence Hargrave, Charles Kingsford Smith, Charles Ulm, Charles Kingsford Smith, David Warren, John and Reginald Duigan and Phyllis Arnott.
