If you’ve ever been to Sydney before, you’re probably visited the major tourist attractions like Luna Park, the Harbour Bridge, The Opera House, the list goes on. The city is full of amazing and interesting attractions and for most, you’ll have to visit during the daylight hours but for 2 full months of every year, you can see these incredible attractions light up with beautiful light shows.

The ‘Vivid Festival’ is a light and sound festival with displays all over Sydney. It runs from May 26th until the 17th of June 2017 and it attracts people from around Australia and around the world.

The Park Hyatt

Without a doubt, my favourite hotel in Sydney is the Park Hyatt. It’s luxurious, spacious, has amazing staff, and the views are unparalleled. Understandably, the hotel is expensive with nightly rates often going above $850 but, luckily, it’s relatively easy to redeem points for making redemptions brilliant value.

If you’re wanting to redeem points for the property, for cash and points (best value) it’s 15,000 Hyatt points and $400 per night. This will get you a basic room but you can also pay for a room upgrade if you’re wanting a better view. You can also pay for a full night with 30,000 points if you wish. If you’re a Hyatt Globalist member, you’re most likely to be given an ‘Opera Deluxe’ for free when checking-in (space available).

The Intercontinental

The Intercontinental is another brilliant property in Sydney which fantastic views. It’s not right on the harbour but the views are still amazing and defiantly worth staying at. The rates are often $250+ and redeeming points at the property is fairly easy to do.

If you’d like to redeem points for the hotel, you have quite a few options when it comes to how many points you want to redeem. You can only redeem points for the City King views but always pay for an upgrade or be a member of Ambassador program which gives rooms upgrades. Here are the ranges of points:

  • 60,000 points for 1 night
  • 55,000 points + $40 USD for 1 night
  • 50,000 points + $70 USD for 1 night
  • 45,000 points + $99 USD for 1 night
  • 40,000 points + $125 USD for 1 night

Another brilliant feature of the hotel is the Club lounge and I think this alone makes the IC compete with the Park Hyatt for views. The lounge has 270-degree views right over Sydney Harbour and the best part? You don’t have to be staying at the hotel to access it. It can be accessed by anyone after 9 pm, you, of course, pay for what you consume etc.

The Marriot

Like the Intercontinental, the Marriot isn’t located right on the harbour but rather in the CBD. In saying that, it’s not a bad thing at all as It gives you a much wider perspective and view of what going on.

The Marriot is a category 8 property which requires 40,000 points for one free night or 24,500 points + $145 USD for a cash and points rate. You’ll be booked into a basic city view room so it’s worth upgrading or if you have Marriot status, you would more than likely be upgraded to an Opera house view.

overall

These are the best hotel with the best views to redeem points at for Vivid. There are quite a number of other properties with great views like the Four Seasons, Pullman and Shangri-La but a few are quite hard to redeem for and don’t have the best view of the Opera house which made them miss the list.
