For the past two days, I’ve been in Melbourne to attend a wedding. It’s not often I’m in Melbourne for a few days so thought while I was down here, I’d stay at the Sheraton and see what my first experience as a Marriott Platinum would be like.
The rates for the Sheraton start at around $230 for a basic room but if you’re wanting to redeem your Bonvoy points, you’ll need to spend 35,000 points per night as it’s a category 5 hotel.
Check-in was pretty effortless, I was offered some champagne, asked which Platinum benefit I’d like and the attendant also mentioned that the room had been upgraded to a deluxe room.

When you first walk into the room, to the left is where the bathroom is found.

The bathroom was stocked with le grandbain amenities:

The room itself is pretty standard for a deluxe room, nothing too exciting but also nothing disappointing, the space was perfectly adequate.

I was actually quite impressed with the firmness of the mattress as well as pillows, not too hard nor paper thin.

The one thing I really disliked about the hotel was the lack of privacy screen in the bathroom, how hard is it put a blind or shade there? I still find it strange hotels continue to do this.

The windows near the TV give you a view of tall buildings while the windows next to the bed give you a view of ehhh, a rooftop…

View From The Room
Overall I had a good stay at the Sheraton Melbourne and would return to the property. If you’re a Marriott Bonvoy member and are staying in Melbourne, you’ve currently got a choice of 5 properties to choose from with a sixth being the W which will be opening in June 2020.
