The New Qantas First Class Lounge In Singapore Has Officially Opened

Back in October of 2018, it was announced that Qantas would be expanding their very popular Singapore lounge not only in the business class area but they’d also incorporate a first class section. This is also due to the fact that the airline pulled out their A380 services from Dubai and instead moved the London services back to the original old routing via Singapore.

Dubai is home to their best friend Emirates, and the lounge facilities for first passengers were pretty fantastic, Singapore missed a dedicated area for these passengers, and they had to either use the BA lounge next door or the business class section, understandingly, a lot of people were not happy with this arrangement.

The 240 seat lounge has just opened, and I’ve been meaning to post about it but have been crazy busy with the airshow and meetings, but here it is:

It’s very evident this is a Qantas first lounge as you first see that while marble, it’s become an iconic look for the carrier and most will be easily able to recognise it from a first glance.

‘The lounge was designed by David Caon as well as Akin Atelier. David’s work is very well known and respected in the industry, he’s the one responsible for the new premium economy, new A380 cabin interiors as well as the Hong Kong lounge, these are just a few things he’s done for Qantas, and I’m a big fan of his work.

This lounge brings the total number of first class facilities to 4 for the flying kangaroo after the Sydney, Melbourne and Los Angeles lounges; this is the first one with the new design, however.

Both the expanded business lounge and first lounge now have a combined capacity of 800 people, the business lounge desperately needed an expansion so I’m glad that wasn’t left out.

The lounge, in my opinion, looks really nice and I personally cannot wait to review it. I’ll hold my full judgement until I see it in person, but I’m quite a fan of the first images, I really dig the seating at the dining tables especially.

The chairs below just look really plush and comfortable, a lot more so than the ones currently in the older styles lounges:

There’s also been a bit more detail now added into the bathrooms; I think this will make a big difference in the time to come as I find that the older lounges tend to get quite stained in the bathrooms which is quite unfortunate, this should help quite a lot.

The lounge features a large dining area with Asian inspired dishes, a cocktail bar, large amounts of seating, of course, the extremely popular shower suites.

I’m quite excited about this lounge opening. I think it’s going to be very popular, especially with Oneworld travellers as this lounge can also be accessible for Emerald members besides first class passengers or Platinum and above cardholders with Qantas.

I don’t currently have any trip to Singapore planned at this stage, but if I do, I’ll definitely try and get inside and get a review.

What are your thoughts on the new lounge?
