Qantaslink is Qantas’ regional airline which helps connect smaller towns and bigger cities with a fleet smaller than their big brother Qantas. Qantaslink operates a fleet of 717’s, A320’s, Fokker 100’s and a fleet of Dash 8 Q400’s, 300’s as well as 200’s which make up over 2000 flights a week all across Australia.
I’ve flown on many Dash 8 aircraft in my time visiting family in rural towns and have always had a pleasant experience, flying onboard the Dash 8’s are especially fun if you’ve got a window seat. The aircraft is quite comfortable, and the service is quite similar to what you’ll find on mainline Qantas in most cases in regards to drink and snacks offered.
What is being added?
- Qantaslink will be adding a brand new service between Sydney and Mildura
From the 29th of March 2020, Qantaslink will introduce a new route which is between Sydney and Mildura utilising the Dash 8 Q400 aircraft which can seat 74 passengers in a single class.
“As Australia’s largest regional airline, we know the value of connecting country cities and we’re proud to be connecting the Sunraysia region to Sydney once again.
“It’s the second new service we’ve launched to regional Victoria in the past 12 months and we’re confident it will be a success.
“The flight time of 1 hour and 50 minutes represents a reduction in current travel time between Mildura and Sydney via Melbourne, easing the burden on travellers and offering an improvement on the cost of flights
- Qantaslink will be increasing their Bendigo – Sydney route
Qantas’ Bendigo – Sydney route has had great success, and it’s a very popular route. To help with this continued growth, the regional carrier will be introducing three more weekly services to help cater to the demand. The aircraft Qantas will use on this particular route will be the smaller Dash 8 Q300 aircraft which seats 50 passengers in a single class. These increased services are set to start on the 30th of March, 2020.
“Demand between Bendigo and Sydney has far exceeded our expectations, which is why we’re adding additional services for the second time since we launched the service.
Qantas has been refreshing the interiors of the Dash 8’s over the past year. To read more on that and see what the new cabins look like, take a look here. All variants of the aircraft will be upgraded for those interested.
