Virgin Australia Temporarily Stops Points Transfers To Singapore Airlines

This post isn’t going to be the standard size of my regular articles but instead more of a quick update in regards to all of the information going around with airlines and their programs. Virgin Australia has obviously been hit pretty hard with the virus and it’s impacted their operations dramatically, it’s very saddening to see.

Virgin and Singapore Airlines have long had a fantastic option to be able to swap points between each other’s programs. As time has passed, the rates have lowered but depending on what you’re using your points on – there’s still some pretty great value to be had, and it’s an incredibly simple process.

The ability to transfer Velocity points to Krisflyer has been temporarily paused, but the other way hasn’t yet been closed.

As of this evening, it’s being reported that Velocity members, unfortunately, cannot proceed to transfer their points into the Singapore Krisflyer program.

Below is what’s being displayed on the Velocity website:

As the post shows, above, Velocity shows that transfers are not available, yet the Singapore website is still allowing transfers.

As you can see, I’ve done a test, and the points landed straight into my account:

I imagine Singapore would also be doing the same and that page for transfers will become unavailable. DO NOT GO AND TRANSFER IF YOU STILL CAN FROM SQ, THIS WAS PURELY A *TEST*.
