On a recent trip to Abu Dhabi, I decided I’d visit the Aerotel transit hotel at Abu Dhabi airport. I had to check-out of the St. Regis Saadiyat Island at 10 am and instead of just sitting all day at the hotel, I made my way to the airport. As I hadn’t slept the night before, I was in need of some sleep and this seemed like a perfect time to trial the Aerotel.
I chose the twin room with the shower and bathroom. The hotel has quite a few types of rooms to choose from. From memory, the cost was around $250 for 6 hours which is quite steep.
I was given room 16. The room has 2 double beds, a TV, small table & chair and a phone.
When you walk into the room, you’ll find the bathroom on the right. It was well cleaned and maintained.
There’s also a shower which I really appreciated. A lot of the other rooms don’t have showers and you instead have to use the showers in the lounge which is directly next to the hotel.
The beds were a little firm for my liking but still fairly comfortable. I was able to get a deep 6 hours of sleep which I really needed.
The room is on the smaller side but what can you expect from an airport transit hotel?
Next to the beds you’ll find all of the light switches as well as a power outlet.
The room has shades which blocked out the light. The rooms aren’t completely sound proofed but they are definitely still quiet. If you turn the air conditioning on, you won’t be able to hear any aircraft.
The hotel also has some tea and coffee facilities which is a nice touch, the rooms also included 2 free bottles of water.
It was powdered coffee so if you’re wanting a better coffee, there are quite a few cafes in the airport and better machines in the lounge next door.
The hotel looks pretty modern and is kept well clean.
Overall, for what it is, the Aerotel transit hotel in Abu Dhabi is great. The rooms are clean, comfortable and quiet and having the Plaza Premium lounge next door is a nice benefit. The only thing that I didn’t like with the rooms was the pricing. Some rooms can go over $350 for six hours….
