In the past few years, Qatar Airways has been making a number of changes to their Australian services (both good and bad) and it appears that they’ve made their next move. upgrading one of their routes with their latest product.

I wrote a few weeks ago that the Doha based carrier would be upgrading both their Perth and Adelaide routes but the dates were not set at the time. Qatar has since updated its schedule and has given the Adelaide route an official starting date of which the A350-1000XWB will operating.

According to Airlineroute, Qatar will operate the A350-1000XWB to Adelaide starting on the 29th of March 2020. The airline hasn’t yet stated when they will make the switch on the Perth route but I would imagine they will announce it quite soon.

Qatar Airways flight 914 departs Doha at 8:35 pm and arrive into Adelaide at 5:20 pm the following day.

Qatar Airways flight 915 departs Adelaide 10:15 pm and arrives into Doha at 5:50 am the following day.

The A350-900 is currently operating the service and when the aircraft swap is made, passengers in Business Class are going to be extremely happy as the aircraft features their Qsuites which is a fantastic product and arguably among the best in the sky.

What are the best points to use for Qatar Airways?

Luckily Qatar being part of Oneworld, this opens up a lot of options and programs that are able to be used to redeem for Qatar awards. Not only is Qatar space quite easy to find, but they are usually quite generous on making space available on the Adelaide route and often times I’m able to find more than 1 Business Class award on certain flights.

The easiest way to find Qatar award space is via the British Airways or Qantas website.

American Airlines AAdvantage

  • Business Class – 80,000 points one-way for Business Class
  • Economy Class – 42,500 points one-way in Economy Class

Qantas Frequent Flyer

  • Business Class – 119,000 points one-way for Business Class
  • Economy Class – 50,300 points one-way in Economy Class

Qatar Airways Privilege Club

  • Business Class – 101,500 points one-way in Business Class
  • Economy Class – 50,750 points one-way in Economy Class

British Airways Executive Club

  • Business Class – 154,000 points one-way in Business Class
  • Economy Class – 51,500 points one-way in Economy Class

Overall there is nothing bad to be said about the swap and I know passengers are absolutely going to love the change. I just wish one day that they could get the rights to start Brisbane services, maybe one day….

QR have been operating an A359 configured with Q-Suites for a while now, so not much of an upgrade.

Doesn’t require much research and has been pretty well publicised across the likes of AusBT…..

Do the exact same people from Ausbt read my site? No, we both cover various different audiences. What’s the purpose of your comment exactly?
