EVA Air Has Suspended Brisbane Services Until Late April

by Zac George March 18, 2020

It appears EVA Air has same some recent changes their schedules and their one sole Australian destination will be having a suspension. As more and more countries realise how severe the COVID-19 virus is and the effects it’s having around the world, they’re bringing in massive changes in regards to the arrival and departure of both citizens as well as foreigners. The restrictions are getting more intense by the day, and it doesn’t look like it will change quickly.

EVA Air has temporarily suspended their Brisbane service amid the virus as the airline continues to brace for more capacity changes.

EVA Air Has Suspended Brisbane Services Until Late April

According to Airlineroute, EVA Air last night suspended their Brisbane – Taipei route. The airline has decided that it will not operate the service until April 30th. The BR315/316 service is operated by a 787-10.

The airline has a minimal Australian network with only one flight to Brisbane. I’m really not sure why Brisbane is the only destination they serve, but from my knowledge, the route performs very well usually. The airline would be currently operating five weekly services if things were normal, this number is changed depending on the season and availability trends.

After looking around for more information on the services being cancelled and what EVA Air is doing, I came across one of their press releases and what I read was pretty interesting. On March 2nd, the airline actually confirmed a case of COVID-19 on this exact route; I’m not sure how that one was kept as quiet as it was. As a result of this, the airline has started cleansing and disinfecting the aircraft after each flight.

All passengers that were scheduled to go on that flight were booked on different carriers, and the aircraft was then ferried back to Taipei and headed for a deep clean.
