Review – JW Marriott Hong Kong, Deluxe Room

A few weeks ago, I had a one night stop in Hong Kong before heading home on Qantas’ 787 Dreamliner. If you’re a Marriott fan, you’ll be very pleased with the variation in properties, there’s currently over 30 hotels available for booking.

When I was looking at rates, the JW Marriott was offering a pretty good rate of just over $300 and after having a fantastic experience in Dubai, I was quite keen to see what my experience would be like in Hong Kong.

I booked a standard Deluxe room and that’s the room I was given. The room has an overall size of 31 square meters and includes a fairly sized marble bathroom, a 42-inch HD TV, and complimentary wifi.

The hotel is a category 6 property and will require 40,000 points one-way for an award night or 19,000 points and $190 USD for a points + cash rate.

As soon as you walk into the room, located directly on your left will be the wardrobe and luggage storage and on the right will be the bathroom.

The water pressure in this shower was also fantastic and thought it’d be worth mentioning, not enough hotels have great shower heads.

The room has an overall modern feel and I feel the wallpaper and carpet really give the room more character otherwise it’d be a little plain.

As far as amenities are concerned, the hotel has quite a lot of facilities for guests including a range of 7 restaurants within the property, a full service fitness centre with sauna & out door pool areas.

The hotel is located 36km away from the airport and will cost you approximately $75 AUD for a taxi one-way, $18 for a Subway ticket one-way and $8 for a bus ticket.

The staff at the hotel were efficient and friendly whenever I had an encounter with them which is always appreciated.

The bed was really comfortable and the pillows were quite alright for my liking. I cannot stand when hotels or airlines have ultra thin pillows, it’s just a big pet peeve of mine.

Overall

I had a great stay at the JW Marriott and I would recommend the property quite highly. The hotel is also located above Pacific Place so there is shopping opportunities right below the property as well as being in a good central location where there are quite a lot of things to see and do.
