Qatar Airways announced their revolutionary Business Class product earlier this year and the anticipation for it has been very high. The carrier’s 777’s don’t have direct aisle seating so the new seats are an absolute blessing. The new ‘Qsuites’ will also be fitted to the A350-1000 fleet and the -900’s will also be fitted with them at a later time.
The airline sent their first 777 over to Zurich for fittings in late April and the aircraft was expected to be back in Doha on June 5th for a launch flight on the 10th. In typical Qatar style, it was delayed. But it now looks like Qatar have made some progress and loaded the new seat maps onto a service to London in 2 weeks.
According to the Qatar Flyertalk forum, the seats will first appear on the QR7 service on the 24th of June from Doha to London. Low and behold, the new seat map is indeed loaded onto the flight:
If you’re wanting to be on the inaugural flight, there are still seats available but I wouldn’t wait too long to book as I’m sure it will fill up. Sadly though, there are no award seats available on the 24th.
Overall, it’s impressive that the carrier is sticking with 42 suites considering that’s how many seats the 777’s have now. If you’re interested to know, the next routes that will see the new suites will be Paris, New York and Sao Paulo. There are no firm dates as to when we’ll see the new suites on those routes but I imagine it’ll be in the next few weeks. As for the schedule regarding aircraft getting refitted with the seats, there’s no indication which 777 will next go to Zurich for the reconfiguring.
It’s great to see that the product will be flying soon, thankfully it hasn’t been too delayed. I’m looking at flying the new product in the future but I’ll be giving the inaugural a miss due to a busy schedule.
Are you excited to see the Qsuites in the air?
