Qatar Airways announced plans to use their A350-1000 aircraft on select services to Australian cities back in February with the services starting in October, unfortunately, these flights have been pushed back to a later date. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a delay like this from Qatar but fortunately it’s not too much of a change.
Cathay Pacific and Qatar were both supposed to be starting the new aircraft in October, for Qatar however, the aircraft will first make an appearance starting the 16th of November.

As you can see, the A350-1000 will be placed on the QR906/907 service which stops in both Sydney and Canberra. This flight is currently operated by a 777-300ER which also features Qatar’s Qsuites.
The A350-1000 features 46 Qsuites and 281 Economy seats compared to the 777-300ER which features 42 Qsuites and 312 Economy seats.
The seating dimensions are the exact same for Qsuites however for Economy, there’s an extra .0.4” of width.
The airline currently operates their A350-1000 aircraft to Dallas, Washington, Paris, Singapore, Tokyo, Houston and New York.
Ultimately it’s disappointing there’s a delay in seeing this aircraft in Australia but we’re lucky it’s not longer. Cathay will be the first airline to bring the XWB aircraft with their services expected from October of this year.
