I’m very happy to be writing this post because Australia is finally starting to get more hotels, especially SPG properties. At this time there are currently ten planned properties to open within the next two years. This post will list all the upcoming hotels, where they are located and some rendering photos.
Queensland
- W Brisbane – Opening December 22nd, 2017
The W Brisbane will be located in the CBD and will have a direct view over the Brisbane River. The hotel will be 100 meters from Queen Street Mall, 100 meters from Treasury Casino, 400 meters from south bank and 16 kilometers from Brisbane airport. The hotel will feature 305 guest rooms.
- Westin Brisbane – Opening October 1, 2018
The Westin Brisbane will also be located in the CBD of Brisbane. The hotel will feature 286 guest room and eight meeting spaces. The hotel will be 900 meters from Treasury Casino, 600 meters from Queen Street Mall and 15 kilometers from Brisbane airport.
New South Wales
- Four Points By Sheraton Sydney, Central Park – Opening March 1, 2018
Sydney will be getting 2 Four Points properties in the next two years. The first one will be located in Central Park. This property will have 297 guest rooms and seven meeting rooms. The hotel will be 1.7 kilometers away from Darling Harbour, close to Pitt Street Mall, Chinatown, and the Queen Victoria building.
- Four Points By Sheraton Parramatta – Opening March 1, 2018
The second Four Points property is Sydney will be located in Parramatta. The hotel will feature 271 guest rooms and five meeting rooms. The property will be 23 kilometers from the Sydney CBD, 28 Kilometers from Sydney Airport and 10 Kilometers from Sydney Olympic Park.
Victoria
- Four Points By Sheraton Melbourne Docklands – Opening March 28, 2017
Victoria will be getting two new SPG’s properties in the next two years, the first one to open will be the Four Points Docklands. The hotel will be a category four hotel which requires 10,000 points for a standard room. The hotel will have 273 guest rooms and seven meeting rooms. The property will also have free wifi for all guests, business services, a fitness center, outdoor heated pool and a steam room. The property will be located 3 kilometers from Crown Casino, 5.1 kilometers from Melbourne cricket ground, and 80 kilometers from Great Ocean Road.
- Aloft Melbourne South Yarra – Opening January 1, 2019
The second SPG property to open in Victoria will be the Aloft Melbourne South Yarra. The property will be one of the smaller ones on the list with 250 rooms and only one meeting space. The property will be 5.5 kilometers from the Melbourne CBD, 2.5 Kilomtetes from the Royal Botanical Gardens, and 30 kilometers from Melbourne Tullamarine Airport.
South Australia
- Aloft Adelaide – Opening September 1, 2019
The Aloft Adelaide will also be a small property with only 200 rooms and 4 meeting spaces. The hotel will be 500 meters from Victoria Square, 500 meters from Adelaide Central Markets, 1 kilometer from Rundle Mall and 7.6 kilometers from Adelaide Airport.
- Sheraton Adelaide Hotel – Opening March 1, 2019
The other property that will be opening in Adelaide is the Sheraton Adelaide. The hotel is one of the smallest with 160 rooms, and 4 meeting rooms. The property will be located 2 kilometers from the Adelaide CBD, and 10 kilometers from Adelaide Airport.
Western Australia
- The Westin Perth – Opening January 31, 2018
Perth will also be getting 2 Starwood hotels, a Westin and an Aloft. The Westin will hold 368 guest rooms and 8 meeting spaces. The hotel will be located on Hay street and there isn’t any information in regards to tourist destinations.
- Aloft Perth – Opening August 5, 2017
The Aloft Perth is the second on the list but will open first. The hotel will have 224 guest rooms and 5 meeting spaces. The hotel will be 5 kilometers from the Perth CBD and 6 kilometers from Perth Airport.
So there is the next 10 starwood properties set to open in the next 2 years. It’s great to see the expansion and it’s been long awaited. Only thing dissapointing is no plans for a St.Regis which would of fit well in Sydney and Melbourne.
